Washington Union Station 2012 Master Plan Vision

In 2012, alongside key station stakeholders, Amtrak released the Washington Union Station Master Plan. The 2012 Master Plan set forth a vision for a greatly expanded and modernized station that could triple passenger capacity and double train operations. The Master Plan vision currently informs near-term station and terminal railyard improvements as ongoing planning and feasibility studies advance. The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) is currently leading an Environmental Impact Statement which will provide station expansion project alternatives for public review.
